What we fix on GE ranges.

/01

Gas burner will not light or lights inconsistently

A gas burner clicks but will not ignite, or lights with a weak or uneven flame. A clogged igniter or port, moisture or food residue around the igniter, or a weak spark module are checked in that order, since cleaning resolves the majority of these calls without a part being replaced.

/02

Electric or induction element will not heat

A coil, radiant, or induction cooking zone fails to produce heat. A failed element or its wiring, a faulty infinite switch on coil models, or on induction models a cookware-compatibility or overheat condition are checked before the control board is suspected.

/03

F0, F1, F6, or F7 keypad / touchpad problem (oven control)

These codes point to a stuck or shorted key on the oven control panel. Pressing each key individually often clears a momentary short; if the code returns, the touchpad or keypad membrane is tested and replaced.

/04

F2 or F20 oven over-temperature

An F2 or F20 means the oven cavity has exceeded a safe temperature threshold and is treated as safety-critical. Power is disconnected and the oven is not used until the temperature sensor and Electronic Range Control board are fully tested.

/05

F3 or F4 oven temperature sensor failure

An F3 or F4 flags the oven temperature sensor circuit as open or shorted. The sensor and its wiring harness are tested against spec with a multimeter before the sensor itself is replaced rather than the control board.

/06

F9 or FC door-lock circuit failure

An F9 or FC points to the self-clean door-lock motor or switches being out of position, most often after a self-clean cycle completes. The latch assembly and switches are inspected and repositioned or replaced before the control board is suspected.

/07

F5, F8, or FF electronic control failure

These codes point to a problem within the Electronic Range Control board itself, typically only confirmed once component-level causes such as the sensor and door-lock switches have been ruled out. The board's connections and power supply are verified before replacement.

/08

Uneven baking or inaccurate oven temperature

Food bakes unevenly or the oven runs hotter or cooler than the set temperature without triggering an error code. A drifting temperature sensor, a weakening bake or broil element, or a genuinely miscalibrated control are checked in sequence.

These are the most common issues — not an exhaustive list. Our technicians diagnose and repair any GE range problem, including intermittent failures, unusual symptoms, and issues not listed here.

About GE range repair

Common GE range problems

Accurate ge range repair means treating the cooktop and the oven as two different diagnostic problems, because that is genuinely how GE built the appliance. The gas or electric cooktop side of a JGB gas or JB electric free-standing range, or a Café or GE Profile slide-in, carries no digital error-code system at all — a burner that will not light or an element that will not heat is diagnosed entirely by symptom. The oven side, by contrast, runs on GE’s Electronic Range Control board and reports its own published F-code vocabulary: F0/F1/F6/F7 for a keypad failure, F2/F20 for an over-temperature condition, F3/F4 for a temperature-sensor failure, and F9/FC for a door-lock issue, usually after a self-clean cycle. The complaints we see most are a gas burner that clicks without lighting, an oven that will not maintain its set temperature, a door-lock failure after self-clean, and a control panel that has stopped responding to input.

Ge Range Repair — GE appliance repair

Our GE range repair process

As an independent repair company with no affiliation to GE Appliances, Haier, or General Electric Company, our experienced technicians begin every GE range repair by separating the cooktop and oven diagnosis from the first visit. A gas-ignition complaint sends us to the igniter, port, and spark module before any gas-valve component is suspected; an F2 or F20 is always treated as safety-critical, with power disconnected first and the oven not returned to use until the sensor and control board are fully tested; and an F9 or FC sends us to the door-lock latch and switches, most often after a self-clean cycle. We use the serial number’s two-letter date code — first letter for month, second for a year that cycles roughly every twelve years — together with the manual’s print date to confirm the unit’s age before quoting a repair. We fit OEM or high-quality replacement parts, and every repair is backed by a 30-day labor warranty on our workmanship. Most repairs finish in a single visit, and you can book a range repair online at any time, with a clear quote before work begins.

GE range models we service

We service the GE range lineup across gas, electric, and dual-fuel configurations. Gas free-standing models are built on the JGB735EPES platform and similar JGB prefixes; electric free-standing models use the JB prefix; and Café and GE Profile slide-in and dual-fuel ranges share the same core Electronic Range Control architecture with added griddle, air-fry, and smart-connectivity features. Our model directory lists the igniters, temperature sensors, door-lock assemblies, and control boards matched to each specific build. If your kitchen has a separate GE wall oven, see our oven repair page as well, since the F-code vocabulary and Electronic Range Control architecture carry over between the two appliance types. Every ge range repair visit begins with the model plate rather than the symptom alone, since a gas range’s burner assembly and BTU rating vary by prefix and a mismatched igniter or orifice will not seat correctly even if it looks similar on the shelf.

Error codes and diagnostics

The gas or electric cooktop side of a GE range carries no digital error code — a burner or element complaint is diagnosed entirely by symptom. The oven side displays GE’s own F-code vocabulary: F0, F1, F6, and F7 point to a keypad failure; F2 and F20 flag a safety-critical over-temperature condition; F3 and F4 flag an open or shorted temperature sensor; F9 and FC point to a door-lock circuit failure; and F5, F8, and FF point to the Electronic Range Control board itself. Function indicators such as “Bad Line,” “Unlock Door,” and the Sabbath-mode symbol are not error codes and clear on their own once the underlying condition is addressed. Look up your code or symptom on our range error-code guides, and browse our repair guides for step-by-step help. A gas smell of any kind should always be treated as a call for the local gas utility first, before any appliance technician, regardless of what the range appears to be doing.

Service areas

Our specialist technicians cover all 50 states and the District of Columbia plus 40-plus metro areas, with a standard 24-48 hour response and same-day visits where availability allows for ge range repair. GE has engineered its own Electronic Range Control platform for years, and a genuine F-code deserves a technician who reads it correctly, and a gas-ignition symptom deserves one who checks the igniter before touching anything else. Every visit is handled by an experienced technician who carries the diagnostic tools and OEM or high-quality replacement parts most likely needed, so the problem is identified and, wherever possible, resolved on the first trip. Full specifications for the current GE range lineup are published at geappliances.com. Find your area on our service locations page, or book any service through the scheduling page.
