How a GE wall oven reports a fault

GE wall ovens display GE’s own Electronic Oven Control “F” codes on the panel — the same family used on GE’s range ovens.

GE’s documented oven codes

F0/F1/F6/F7 flag a touchpad problem. F2/F20 mean the oven is running too hot. F3/F4 flag the oven temperature sensor. F350 flags the upper cooling-fan circuit or an obstruction. F5/F8/FF flag the electronic control itself. F9/FC flag the door-lock circuit. F96/F97 and the F7X family flag an internal component. FD means the meat-probe receptacle has a fault. Messages like “Bad Line,” “Unlock Door,” “Loc Door,” “ERR,” and the Sabbath-mode symbol are function displays, not faults.

What to check, and when to call

For a one-off F9/FC code after a self-clean cycle, let the oven cool fully and power-cycle at the breaker for five minutes — a stuck door latch after self-clean often clears this way. A recurring F2/F20 over-temperature code, F3/F4 sensor fault, or F5/F8/FF control fault needs an experienced, independent technician with the correct OEM or high-quality replacement part.
