GE ice maker model families
Most GE icemakers are the automatic module built into a refrigerator, identified by the host refrigerator’s own model and serial number rather than a separate plate. The standalone exception is the GE Profile Opal and Opal 2.0 nugget ice makers, a countertop appliance with its own model number and digital control.
Reading the model and serial number
For a built-in module, record the host refrigerator’s full model and serial string — found on a side wall inside the fresh-food section — since parts are sourced against that number. For an Opal, the plate is on the unit itself, and the serial follows GE’s usual two-letter date-code format: first letter for month, second for year.
