Reading the model and serial number
The rating plate is inside the door opening or on the rear of the cabinet. Confirming electric versus gas from the model number tells a technician whether a repair involves a heating element or an igniter and gas valve. As with GE’s other appliances, the serial’s first letter dates the month of manufacture and the second the year.
